Community Services

The Saginaw Police Department is dedicated to providing a variety of services to our community.  That commitment to service was strengthened in 2004, when we added a full-time Community Services Officer, and again in 2008 with the addition of a Citizens Police Academy.  Our Community Services Unit is responsible for:

-  Establishing crime prevention initiatives within the city;

-  Conducting home and business inspections;

-  Coordinating events such as National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch, safety fairs, and the Citizens Police Academy.

Currently, our Community Services Officer is Damon Ing.  For more information on the services available to you, please contact Off. Ing at 817-232-0311, or by e-mail here.

Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy is a 12 week program that allows police officers and citizens to interact in an informal setting.  Classes meet for three hours, one night a week.  Students are introduced to modern policing methods and strategies to better enhance their understanding of what we do.  It also allows our officers to better know the community and understand their needs.  Some of the topics covered in the CPA include:

-  Police Administration, Budgeting and Personnel;

-  Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Search;

-  Patrol and Traffic;

-  Communications and Records;

-  Firearms Safety (complete with a trip to the gun range!);

-  and much, much more!
